Spellbinder is now in public beta
by Nick Diego · 5 min read
Spellbinder has moved from alpha to public beta, and the headline is simple: you can now create an account.
When the alpha launched back in March, everything on the site worked without signing in. Tournament results, decklists, cards, sets, and format analysis were all there from day one, but the personal side of Spellbinder was still being built. That side is now ready.
Sign in, and Spellbinder becomes home to your own collection, decks, wishlist, and more.

Here's a quick tour of what a free account gets you today.
Build decks
Start from scratch, paste in a decklist, or import one from popular community sites like Moxfield and Archidekt. Or you can browse the latest tournament decks and decks from other users. Find one you like, copy it, and make it your own.
Once you start building, select the correct printings, sort your cards into custom categories, and optimize printings based on price or what's in your collection. Deck stats and pricing update as you go. Every deck can be public, unlisted, or private.

When it's ready, goldfish the deck with the built-in playtester before you sleeve it up.

Every deck also has a visual view: the whole list laid out as card art, stacked by playset, so you can take in the deck at a glance. It doubles as the deck image, ready to download or share on social the next time someone asks what you played.

Track your collection
Add the cards you own, complete with quantities, finishes, condition, and language, organize them into binders, and see what everything is worth. Once your collection is in, the rest of the site knows about it. The deck builder shows what you already own as you build, and any decklist can tell you exactly which cards you're missing.
If your collection lives somewhere else today, bringing it over takes a few minutes. There are import guides for Moxfield, Archidekt, ManaBox, MTGGoldfish, and TCGplayer, and everything exports back out whenever you want it. No lock in.

Scan cards
Point your phone's camera at a card and Spellbinder recognizes it, right there in the browser, with nothing to install. Scan straight into your collection, your wishlist, or a deck, and it's quick enough to keep pace with a stack of cards from draft night.

The recognition runs on a custom model inside the browser, so camera images are never uploaded anywhere. It works just as well on desktop with a connected camera as it does on your phone.
What's next
That's only a high-level overview of what Spellbinder can do. Binders, bookmarks, deck sharing, public profiles, price tracking, and plenty more features are waiting once you sign in, and the docs cover all of it. But the best way to discover everything is to create an account and poke around.
Beta means the core of the app is built, but it's far from finished. Alongside an extensive roadmap of new features and a steady stream of updates, expect the occasional bug or rough edge.
Most of Spellbinder is free and always will be. Browsing needs no account, and everything above runs on a free one. There are no display ads anywhere on the site, on any plan, and your data is never sold to advertisers. Instead, Spellbinder is supported by affiliate links and paid plans for those who want more advanced features, like saved deck versions, collaboration, and higher limits.
Give it a try
Create an account and start with a deck or an import. It takes about a minute.
If something breaks, or you have an idea, we'd love to hear about it. Use the Get Help page inside the app, join the Discord, or find Spellbinder on X and Bluesky. Every bit of feedback shapes what gets built next.
Thanks for being here at the start.
