Data Sources
Spellbinder is an independent Magic: The Gathering resource built on data published by other people, and this page says who they are. Spellbinder is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Wizards of the Coast.
Card data and prices
Card data comes from Scryfall: every card's Oracle text, types, colors, printings, set information, legality, and card images. Spellbinder serves images from its own CDN, but the images themselves are Scryfall's copies of Wizards of the Coast card art.
Prices come from two feeds, refreshed daily:
- USD prices are provided by TCGplayer.
- EUR and Magic Online (tix) prices come from Scryfall's price feed, which draws on Cardmarket and Cardhoarder.
Prices are indicative. They can lag the market by a day, they do not reflect condition or seller, and the price at the retailer is the one that counts when you buy. Collection values are calculated from these feeds and carry the same caveats.
Tournament results and player data
Decklists in tournament results, archetype pages, and the metagame views are collected from publicly published results at:
- Melee.gg
- TopDeck.gg
- Magic Online leagues and challenges
- Spicerack, a retired source: the site has shut down, but the events Spellbinder collected from it stay visible
Magic Online league results appear on Spellbinder the day Wizards publishes them. Wizards keeps adding 5-0 decklists to a league page for a day or two after it goes up, so a league's deck count can grow for a few days before it settles.
Player names appear as the tournament organizer published them. Player pages are built from those published results and are not user accounts. If you played in a listed event and want to ask about how you appear here, contact support@spellbinder.gg.
Purchase links
Card and deck pages link to retailers so you can buy what you are looking at. The link carries the card name, or the whole decklist for "buy this deck", so the retailer can fill your cart. The retailer handles checkout, shipping, and returns.
TCGplayer links are affiliate links. If you buy through one, Spellbinder may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. This is one of the ways Spellbinder is funded, alongside paid plans. Cardhoarder links carry a Spellbinder referral tag, but there is no affiliate agreement in place, so Spellbinder earns nothing from them.
Imports from other sites
When you import a deck by pasting a link, Spellbinder's server fetches that page on your behalf and reads the decklist out of it. Supported sites are Spellbinder itself, Moxfield, Archidekt, MTGGoldfish, and MTGTop8. Nothing about you is sent to those sites; they see a request from Spellbinder.
Legal
Magic: The Gathering, its card names, card images, and related marks are the property of Wizards of the Coast LLC. Spellbinder uses them under Wizards of the Coast's Fan Content Policy. Scryfall data is used under its API terms. For how Spellbinder handles the information described here, see the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
