Introducing Spellbinder
by Nick Diego
Hey there, I'm Nick. Spellbinder has officially entered public alpha.
This is a project I've wanted to build for a long time. It's been in the back of my mind through years of playing Magic, following tournaments, digging through decklists, and managing my collection. In February, I finally sat down and started building.
At a high level, Spellbinder is a unified platform for Magic: The Gathering discovery, analysis, deck building, and collection management.

In this initial phase, Spellbinder focuses on discovery and analysis. These are also the features you can use without an account, as user functionality is still in development.
Today, you can already:
- Browse recent tournament results across 9 formats
- Dig into format metagame analysis
- Explore over 230,000 decklists
- Browse all Magic cards and sets
But this is just one part of what Spellbinder will become.
From the beginning, I've wanted this to go beyond public data and into more personal aspects of the game. Deck building, collection management, match tracking, and tools for sharing your Magic expertise are all core to the product. Many of these are already in progress and will be released alongside the public beta, currently planned for the end of April.
That vision comes from years of using incredible community resources like MTGGoldfish, MTGTop8, and Moxfield. Each has played an important role in how I interact with the game, but I’ve often found myself jumping between tools. Spellbinder is an attempt to bring that experience together in one place.
Beyond the features themselves, this is being built around a few core ideas. It should feel modern, fast, and at home on any device, especially on mobile. The goal is to make the experience feel connected across everything, from quickly looking up a specific card to managing your own decks and collection.
Since this is a public alpha, you should expect bugs, rough edges, and incomplete features. Things will change quickly, often daily. That's part of the process. The goal right now is to get Spellbinder into the hands of as many Magic players as possible and continue iterating rapidly in public.
You might be wondering about the name. It's a bit on the nose, but Spellbinder is a nod to both sides of Magic. The spells we cast and the binders that hold our collections. It also happens to be a cool card.
If you try it out, I'd love to hear what you think. All feedback is incredibly valuable, good or bad. You can reach out through the contact form, join the Discord, or connect on X and Bluesky.
